Jerry Schlichter is homebound, recuperating from a painful episode with a
ruptured appendix; he's getting daily visits from a visiting nurse to care
for an open wound from the operation. A minor operation can quickly get very
serious - especially when coupled with other complications.

Jerry spent a week in the hospital and three weeks in a rehab center where
he lost fifteen pounds. They wanted to keep him in the rehab center another
16-days but he had to check out early to try to get some decent food. The
experience has him agreeing that the crew meals we used to get weren't so
bad after all.
