US Airways looking for more cuts: Two weeks of talks with pilots appear to focus on how their union could lop $295 million off annual expenses, part of the $800 million in savings management wants from all staff. The company says it needs such savings to avoid a second bankruptcy filing. A US Airways presentation unearthed by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette noted differences in costs and benefits with America West and JetBlue. The report concluded US Airways pilots could eliminate $295 million from a number of changes, including reducing wages from an average of $137 an hour to $115 and improving flight-time productivity. A US Airways spokeswoman declined to discuss the numbers or comment about the talks. The pilots are the only employees to reopen contract talks or even consider more concessions. A pilot spokesman said the current talks "are certainly not going bad. That I can definitely say." Posted at 7:45 a.m. ET
