To the Pilots of Council 52,
We are now coming up on one week since the company announced it was going to abandon the International markets out of New York. Since we first became aware of the companies direction we have been working very hard in preparation for the NPDM process. ALPA, along with the company will sit down on Friday August 4th for the first of several meetings to discuss the NY 777 base and how the pilots of that fleet will be handled but also an examination the entire NY domicile.
At this time the only thing known for sure is that the 777 base will close at the end of October. Other than that nothing definitely has been decided. Your LEC Officers realize that this uncertainty has caused great amounts of stress for you and your families. We will provide you with as much information as possible as it becomes available. Please remember that at this time your best source for accurate information is from your LEC Officers and not the rumor mill. To that end we are prepared to set up Conference Calls as necessary to allow us to get information out to you and to provide you with the opportunity to ask questions. We will try to give you as much lead time as possible prior to these calls but because this process is dynamic we may not be able to give you more than a few days prior to a call. Ideally, we would like to have a call during the week of August 7th but will have a better feel for it after our meeting with the company on the 4th.
