I received this
from Harry Stonelake yesterday evening and he asked me to pass it on via my
e-mail list and I am. However, this is the tip of an iceberg. You too! must
pass this on . not only to UAL retirees and employees but to all your airline
friends from other carriers or anybody associated with a union or the working
class. Hell! send it to any one who might take time to write a letter or an e
mail. Expressing their disgust to what is going on in this country with regard
to stealing workers retirement plans. We all know that this is not going to
stop here. DAL and NWA are next on the chopping block. Last month American
airlines said their pensions were safe howeverjust recently American's mgt. is
singing a different tune. "BY BY PENSIONS".
Next will be the auto industry.
Hell, give it a shot what have you got to lose.
Hand a great Memorial Day Weekend. I use to say FLY SAFE now DRIVE SAFE and
keep the blue side in your back pocket.
I HAVE HIGHLIGHTED SOME OF HARRY'S E MAIL

Hello everyone.
Good news, the online pension hearings have been extended for
another week.
They have about 1000 responses! Great? Hell no! Not even very
good, when over 120,000 people are working or retired from UAL.
This is your chance to check with all on your E-mail list, and ask them to send
an Emil to the pension hearing board, and more importantly, to send you a copy
of their Emil, and if they have not sent an Emil to get off their ass and do
so now! Be just as smooth and gentle with them as I am!!!!!! Explain to the
older guys who think this is not going to effect them, that when the entire PBGC
defaults, it will be their pensions also, that get dumped. They can write about
what is fair and legally and morally promised to all.
Best
Harry
Ps Pilots should send their Emil to "2174.lounge@mail.house.gov"
with copies
to
everyone else you can think of including a copy to Maryanne.
Note that it was
the AMFA Legislative Liaison who got the week extension and not the ass
hole,
back stabbing, cowards at the UAL MEC, nor ALPA!
PPS Get your wife, family and friends to write also -- congress only acts
when a
lot of votes are at stake!
For giggles here is my rough draft; Darn, I sure miss my old buddy and
proofreader, Jock Savage. He always turned my scratching into English.

Subject: Thievery of airline employee pensions
Honorable George Miller
U. S. House of Representatives
Washington, D. C.
To:
2174.lounge@mail.house.gov
Dear Congressman Miller:
Thank you for sponsoring HR 2327! Your efforts and support are critical!
The definition of thievery is "crimes of appropriating another's property!" How
can what Tilton of United Airlines and xyz of the PBGC are trying to do, be
called anything other than outright thievery? Thank God we have some honorable
men, such as yourself, who are trying to stop this thievery! Sir, my wife and I
thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
The vast majority of retired or soon to retire pilots served their country
flying in the military. I spent 15 years on active duty (and another 10 in the
Reserves) with the US Navy flying the single seat, light attack, A7 Corsair -
including 2 tours flying off the Aircraft Carrier USS Ranger over Vietnam in the
mid and late 60's. I
advanced from Seaman Recruit (E1) to Captain (O6) during my years of service to
my country. I thought I was helping spread Democracy and making our own country
safe from criminals, crooks and other enemies of freedom and the American way of
life. If half, or more, of my pension is stolen from me (and it's even worse for
some other retirees) I will feel that my service and dedication to my country
has been wasted and the domestic crooks will have won!
You Sir, and your fellow legislators, are some of the few who even give a dam!
We thank you and count on your help so much! Your personal leadership in this
effort to stop this stealing of morally, legally and contractually promised,
earned, and set aside monies, in these pension funds, is critical! It's support
for all of the retirees, and currently working employees of UAL, other airlines,
and soon, probably other industries, such as the automobile manufacturing
industry! It shows your honor and belief in, and efforts to save, the American
way of life for so many!
I started working at age 10 as a paper boy and worked constantly through out my
life until I was forced to retire as a pilot from UAL at age 60, after 31 years
of working there. Just as so many others who worked for 50 years, I expect the
pension I earned from UAL, and have been receiving for the last 5 years, to
continue. If not, I fear I will have to sell my home. It is my money and was
honestly earned, just deferred until my retirement! This is the American dream
and supposedly the American way of life. Please help us maintain this dream and
our retirement pensions.
Thank you so much for your leadership and efforts, and God Bless you!

READ ALL BELOW. Good info. MUST FOLLOW UP ON AND SEND YoUR LETTERS NOW
Good afternoon everyone,
Due to the overwhelming response of more than 1,000 United employees and
retirees who have provided their testimony on the threats to their
retirements, Reps. George Miller (D-CA) and Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) are
extending by one week the deadline of the online pension hearing. The new
deadline will be next Friday, June 3rd, 2005, which will allow for more
statements to be received.
I have received over 200 emails and fax responses this week from current
employees and retirees - and need to receive more. We need to hear from
United as well as Northwest and Alaska on your concerns. Due to the number
of statements received this week, I contacted the pension committee and
requested that the "comment period" be extended to next week - which they
have obliged.
"This overwhelming response shows how important this issue is to hundreds
of thousands of American, and how out-of-touch Congress has become with the
concerns of American everywhere, "Congressman Miller said. "These United
workers are people that members of Congress were sent to Washington to
represent - people who work hard, play by the rules, and through no fault of
their own are seeing their retirements slashed. Congress must act quickly
on their behalf."
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
We are urging the membership and retirees at United, Northwest and Alaska to
submit their own witness statements
IN YOUR OWN WORDS
(500 words or
less) to
include:
* the statement should explain a bit about you (the witness);
* where you live and work;
* what your job at your company has been;
* how long you have worked at your company (please specify your employer/
carrier);
* how the termination (or potential termination) of the pension plan
personally will
impact your lives, retirement security, and family.
These statements must be as
PERSONALIZED
as possible. GENERIC FORM LETTERS
WILL NOT SUFFICE FOR A HEARING OF THIS SORT.
PLEASE CONTINUE TO SEND YOUR STATEMENTS!!! SO GET YOUR PEN AND WRITE - OR
GET THE KEYBOARD OUT AND TYPE!!!!
WHERE TO SEND THESE STATEMENTS:
Email:
legislative@amfanatl.org
(Your statement will be forwarded to
Congress)
or -
Fax: (202) 822-8887
If you have any questions regarding this request, please do not hesitate to
contact me directly.
Best regards,
Maryanne
