URPBPA WEBSITE UPDATE 8-2-05
www.ualpilotpension.com/

Retired pilots are receiving notice from United that the Company is
objecting to and requesting the Bankruptcy Court to eliminate any
claim a retired pilot may have asserted for Qualified Defined
Benefit Pension Plan payments that will be lost in the event the
Pilot's Defined Benefit Pension Plan is terminated. August 17, 2005,
has been set as the deadline for responding to United's motion to
eliminate the claims and a hearing on the motion will be held by
Judge Wedoff on August 26, 2005. United is asserting that in the
event of plan termination the pilots' claims for lost qualified
benefits will be assumed by the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation
(PBGC).

The Pilots' Defined Benefit Pension Plan has not been terminated.
The future of the Pilots' Defined benefit Plan will not be
determined by the hearing on August 26. The plans continuation will
be determined by the outcome of litigation with the PBGC.
The United document specifically notes that this action does not
affect retired pilots' claims for non-qualified pension benefits nor
retired pilots' medical benefit claims.

The United Retired Pilots Benefit Protection Association's (URPBPA)
attorneys are evaluating United's motion and an appropriate response
will be filed with the Court as soon as the assessment is completed.
URPBPA's filing will occur prior to the deadline.

URPBPA's analysis and response will be posted on this website as
soon as it is completed.
